June 26th 2010

Ok so first off, i kinda slacked a lot, but thats ok because i come back to you all with a new insight or 3 about how to deal with crazy things involving food.
Tonight i made pizza from almost scratch... i bought a pizza dough from Trader Joe's and then cooked from there.
I carmelized some onions and crimini mushrooms and garlic ( I LOVE GARLIC!) then rolled out the dough (sans rolling pin)which got me to pull out the roll of foil cover it in some saran wrap and pretend it was some expensive metal rolling pin. stretched it on to some cornmeal and built the pizza up , my first layer was ricotta cheese then some mushroom mixture topped with halved baby fresh motzz balls and some prosciutto on top of that then a little fresh parm shaved on top and some oregano, a drizzle of olive oil and into the oven it went.

The pizza was very good the crust was crisp and flavorful and the toppings rocked, my only complaints are that the center of the pizza's dough got VERY thin and stayed kinda soft and i totally forgot to add the basil i wanted on the top as the pizza came out of the oven (bummer)

But otherwise all was good and much tummy rejoicing began!

march 6th 2010

Well i didnt write last night so ill play catch up today.
Breakfast was not in existance yesterday due to a lack of anything to scrounge in the break room and lunch was almost teh same way till we were told to go scrounge leftovers so we grabbed salad pork and some chicken and made do with a chicken or pork salad
It at least tasted pretty good
Dinner was Salmon and Broccili over onion garlic noodles
SOOOO yummy

First blog

Im going to try to keep a running blog for a month or more about what i ate that day and what my thoughts are on what i ate, ill also prolly toss in some random food factoids now and then.
Now first of im a Terrible speller and grammar type person so if that irks you, deal or don't read :) that being said. My name is Krystal and I'm a Chef.. Now that does not mean i run a kitchen or anything near so glamorous it simply means i have classical training and know a lot of annoying french words for torture. mostly obscure knife cuts and classical preparations for crazy things.
I love Food! my waist line shows that a bit more than i would like it to so part of this blog will be to keep an eye on my sometimes crazy eating habits.

Today i had an English muffin and some promise spread for breakfast at 530ish am, then around 1030ish am i had another English muffin and some string cheese and a single BBQ wing. Today lunch at work sucked.
After work about 2 pm i snagged a few bits of chicken from the PM shifts lunch and a couple fork fulls of crappy lo mien. Now ill note that its free food so far and i should not grouch toooo much but free should not always mean garbage!
After i got home a friend asked if i would join him for his first experience to Pei Wei and of course i could not say no to that so i Joined him there and had some Pot stickers Vietnamese spring rolls beef Mongolian and beef lo mien

Almost EVERYTHING was awesome i think i would not order the lo mien again though, as the noodles were rather bland..

Well that's all for now, bed time so i can start too early all over again tomorrow
